CELEBRITY SCARECROW COMPETITION

Calling all children and grown ups across the UK, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are hoping to be able to get back to sending our Feel Better Boxes very soon, but like most charities, we need to raise some more money to do that.

As we are unable to offer our usual fundraising events this year, we have put on our creative thinking caps and decided that we should have a Celebrity Scarecrow competition! Why not?

The competition will run in the UK from 1st June - 6th July 2020.

The winner will receive one of our brand new, Creative Feel Better Boxes, packed full of beautiful art and craft materials. including Seawhite paints and brushes, pens, pencils, modelling clay and a sketchbook and sketchbook club module, from the fabulous children's book illustrator, Jennie Maizels. The box will be sent to you via courier or post.

Two runners up will also receive a prize of some creative crafty activities and a signed copy of one of Sarah's books, you can choose which one!

The competition entries will be judged by the fabulous Anna Louise Walter from BBC Radio Kent and Children's Author Ruth Doyle. (Anna's mum!) They live on a mini farm and so are well qualified in the judging of celebrity scarecrows!

What you need to do to enter:

To be in with a chance of winning a prize and to help us raise some money here's what you need to do:

1. Make a scarecrow that looks like your favourite celebrity. It can be as big or as small as you like, in any medium you like. You could draw or paint a scarecrow, collage one,  sew one, knit one, make one out of clay or plasticine, or make a life size one to put in your garden, like we have in our video.

2. Visit our just giving page and donate £5 as your entry fee. Leave your name, and write celebrity scarecrow competition in the message.

3. When you have made your scarecrow, take a photograph of it and email it to us at theplaywelltrust@gmail.com , include the following details:

Names and ages (for children) of the creators of the scarecrow;

Name of your scarecrow and why you chose that celebrity.

If you can, add a screen shot of your Just Giving confirmation email.

We would like to share photos of your celebrity scarecrows on our social media pages, website and possibly in the press to promote our campaign. If you do not wish for this to happen, please tell us in your email.

4. Spread the word about our scarecrow competition, by sharing your photos on social media with these hashtags:

#theplaywelltrust #celebrityscarecrow #scarecrowcomp

#scarelebrities and why not tag your celebrity too!

The winners will be announced on 12th July on our social media pages.

Thank you all so much for your support. Have fun! We can't wait to see your creations. We will share some of ours too.

Terms and conditions:

This competition is open to UK residents only.

You can enter more than one scarecrow per household. Each individual scarecrow requires a £5 entry fee.

The judges decision is final.

There are no cash alternatives to the prizes.

We would really like to share your lovely scarecrow photos on our social media platforms, on our website and in the press. If there is a reason that you would prefer this not to happen, please mention it in your email.

The Play Well Trust was founded by Sarah Vaughan in January 2019, following the shocking diagnosis of a brain tumour in one of her daughter's nursery school friends.

Sarah felt compelled to use her skills and knowledge of Child Development and Early Years Education to support the little girl and her family through the use of play and creativity - all packed neatly into a Feel Better Box.

This was so successful and beneficial for the family, that soon after she began to support more families experiencing serious childhood illness, this number grew and grew and so The Play Well Trust was born.
